ATHENS, April 22 (Xinhua) — A group of Qatari nationals evacuated from war-torn Libya via a Qatari military aircraft have been hospitalized here, Greek authorities said Friday.
A C17 military cargo plane, which took off from Misurata in northwestern Libya, landed at Athens’ Eleytherios Venizelos airport Thursday evening, carrying 49 injured Qatari citizens and 15 relatives.
Some of the injured were in serious condition, according to medical sources.
The evacuation operation was carried out as part of the humanitarian aid Greece has pledged to offer since the start of the West-led military intervention in Libya.
On April 3, Greece received the first group of foreigners injured in Libya and offered medical assistance.
