The Libyan government has taken control of the port in the city of Misrata and offered the rebels to lay down arms in four days in exchange for pardon.
Misrata, located 210 kilometers east of Tripoli, in recent weeks has been the scene of constant hostilities. On Tuesday, the Libyan armed forces made another attempt to take the city. Mass protests erupted in Libya in February, calling for the removal from power of Muammar Gaddafi, who had been ruling the country for more than 40 years. The protests escalated into an armed confrontation between government forces and rebels.
