Holland:Court in Rotterdam sentences 5 Somali pirates
Laaska News August 12,2011
The district court of Rotterdam on Friday sentenced five Somali pirates to prison terms ranging from 4.5 to 7 years. Last November, they attacked the South African yacht “Choizil” in the Gulf of Aden and took three hostages, the release of one of which was successfully negotiated. Two others are still being held captive.
The 5 pirates were part of a larger group, arrested off the coast of Somalia by the crew of a Dutch war-ship “Amsterdam.”
Russia supports the creation of an international tribunal to prosecute pirates.
