8 of 15 UN Security Council members back Palestine’s membership – VOR

Eight of 15 members of the UN Security Council are ready to vote for Palestine’s admission to the UN, Head of the autonomy’s Foreign Minister Riad al Maliki told the “Voice of Palestine” radio station Thursday.
He said that Russia, China, India, South Africa, Brazil, Lebanon, Nigeria and Gabon are reasy to supporte Palestine’s application. The US has warned that it will veto the Council decision if the vote results are in favor of Palestine’s membership in the UN.
The UN Security Council has given Palestine’s request to a expert committee, which was created especially for this purpose. The committee is to hold first meeting on Friday.
