The Chairman of the executive committee of Libya’s Transitional National Council (TNC) Mahmoud Jibril has confirmed the information that elections to the National Congress of Libya will be held in the coming eight months.
The National Congress of Libya, a sort of national parliament, will face two tasks – to design a draft of the Constitution on which a national referendum will be held and to form an interim government which will be acting until presidential elections, Jibril said.
It is expected that on Sunday the Libyan authorities will officially declare the country’s “liberation” after the reports that the last remaining fortresses of the old regime in Sirte are taken.
