Riot police in Athens had to use tear gas to disperse crowds of protesters in Athens on Tuesday.
People came to the parliament building to mark the December 6, 2008 death of a 15-year-old teenager, shot by police when Greece first came under pressure from the eurozone debt crisis.
Some 5,000 police troops are now said to be patrolling central Athens.
