Tuesday, January 10, 2012
The IAEA has confirmed the start of uranium enrichment in Iran. In a statement on Monday the agency said an underground facility near the holy city of Qom had started work to enrich uranium to 20 percent Tehran says is needed for operating a reactor to produce isotopes for medical purposes.

The US and many other western countries suspect Tehran of developing a nuclear weapon under the guise of peaceful nuclear research. Tehran insists its nuclear program is entirely peaceful.
