Laaska News Feb. 22, 2012
On Tuesday night tens of thousands of people poured into the streets of Spanish cities to demand the authorities put an end to police brutality against students from Valencia according to local television reports.
The biggest protest was held near the institute named after Luis Vives in Valencia, and was attended by thousands of young people and their parents.
During the last few days there have been fierce clashes between the police and young people in the streets of Spain.
Students of local universities were protesting budget cuts to education and the turning off of heating in some schools.
Videotapes and photographs, that became public after the riots, clearly show that the police in helmets and with batons chased down and beat demonstrators.
