Violence in Syria increasing – UN general says
Violence in Syria is increasing daily and the participants in the conflict do not want to solve it by peaceful means, the head of the UN mission of observers in Syria General Robert Mood declared today.
The general said that he had the impression that there was no will to establish peace in the country and that the conflicting forces were betting on a military solution instead. The general laid responsibility for this situation both on the government and the armed opposition.
Russia is convening an international conference with the aim of persuading all Syrian forces to stop violence and start talks. Moscow believes that no armed interference in Syria would bring peace to the region as a whole.
