Long-term investment crucial for Somalia’s recovery, development – UN envoy

31 May 2012 –The top United Nations official for Somalia today called for greater investment in the Horn of Africa nation, as international partners gathered to renew their commitment to the country’s recovery and development and to support the ongoing political transition.

UNITED NATIONS, 19 February 2012 –Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon today welcomed the political agreement reached by Somalis at a national constitutional conference, saying the accord “sets out clear steps for ending the transition and putting in place a constitutional order” in the war-scarred, impoverished country.
