Japan – Emperor resumes official duties

Japan’s Emperor has resumed full official duties, after heart bypass surgery in February.

Emperor Akihito has been recuperating at home since he left hospital in early March. Crown Prince Naruhito has taken over most state duties on behalf of his father since the surgery.

Japan’s Emperor has been in stable condition since he underwent heart surgery on Saturday. His full rehabilitation is expected to start in the middle of this week.
