Iran stops oil sales to British, French companies

JX will cut oil imports from Iran

Japanese oil wholesaler JX Nippon Oil & Energy says it will not renew one of its crude oil contracts with Iran. The contract is set to expire in April.

The United States is asking Japan to reduce its reliance on Iranian oil as part of sanctions against the country.

This comes in a report by the France Presse news agency with reference to diplomatic sources. Earlier, the Foreign Ministers agreed on blocking a major part of transactions with Iran’s Central Bank.

The European Union is expected to approve a crude oil embargo against Iran on Monday.

This is part of the EU effort to tighten sanctions on Iran for ignoring UN resolutions and continuing its nuclear development.
