Africa Oil spuds oil well in Kenya

NAIROBI, Jan. 25 (Xinhua) — Canadian oil and gas exploration firm, Africa Oil said on Wednesday that it has started spudding the Ngamia-1 exploratory well on Block 10BB in Kenya.

The company said in a statement issued in Nairobi the Ngamia-1 well which is located in the Lokichar basin, a north-south trending rift basin that is part of the East African Rift System marks the start of a multiwell program on Block 10BB and adjacent blocks in the east African nation. Read more…

NAIROBI, Jan. 25 (Xinhua) — Kenya and South Sudan governments have signed an agreement that will allow for the construction of an oil pipeline connecting the two countries.

A statement from Kenya’s Prime Minister’s office issued here on Wednesday said the agreement which was reached late Tuesday will allow the construction of an oil pipeline and fibre optic connections between the oil fields in the world’s newest country and Kenya’s port town of Lamu. Read more…
