US, Turkey cooperate on Syria

The United States and Turkey have agreed to cooperate in dealing with worst-case scenarios in Syria, including a possible chemical weapons attack.

US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu discussed the situation in Syria in Istanbul on Saturday.

A top-ranking Syrian military defector is visiting the country’s neighbors apparently to rally support to bring down the government of President Bashar al-Assad.

Former brigadier general Manaf Tlas met Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu in Ankara on Thursday. They’re believed to have discussed the possibility of cooperation between Turkey and Syrian defectors.

Putin, Erdogan discuss Turkish jet downing – Russia

President Vladimir Putin and Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan have discussed the crisis in Syria.
In a telephone conversation Wednesday, they also devoted time to the downing of a Turkish F-4 jet by Syrian air defenses in an incident last Friday.
