Ban Ki-moon urges end to Syria ‘slaughter’

UN chief Ban Ki-moon has urged world leaders to act to halt the “slaughter” in Syria, as thousands of troops reportedly move on the city of Aleppo.

Russia pins hopes on UN Syria mission
The United Nations Security Council has unanimously ruled to boost the personnel of its observer mission in Syria, which went under way with the arrival of the advance party last Sunday, to 300. The mission is to last 90 days, and the deployment will start as soon as Secretary General Ban Ki-moon issues orders to this effect. Read more…

UN – Arab League special envoy to Syria Kofi Annan has proposed creating a national unity government in Syria. According to him, this cabinet could include both representatives of the present authorities, as well as the opposition, reports Reuters, citing a source in diplomatic circles.
