Germany gripped by floods

Rivers are bursting their banks in various parts of Germany as rising temperatures are causing a widespread thaw, with meteorologists warning of more flooding yet to come.
Nearly 100 houses have already been inundated in the country’s west and waters are expected to rise further on Monday.
In Cologne, the Rhine is continuing to rise and has already exceeded 8 meters bringing shipping to a halt. One man died near Pfortzheim when he tried to do some kayaking down a local river.
