BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Monday, the nation will be observing Martin Luther King Junior Day.
Sunday night, Kleinhans Music Hall hosted its annual event in honor of the late civil rights pioneer.
Among those in attendance was the Prime Minister of Somalia, Mohamed A. Mohamed.
The former Grand Island resident returned to western New York for the first time since his appointment last fall.
Mohamed A. Mohamed said, “It has been very tough. I have been away for three months and I’ve been dealing with a tough situation where you have Al-Queda controlling basically half of Somalia.”
“We have to create security, and create peace and stability in Somalia and maybe I will come back home,” said Mohamed.
Mohamed returned to the US to address the UN Security council.
He’s heading to Washington DC, Monday.
