For concerned families, Domodedovo has opened telephone hotlines at 8 (495) 363-6101, 8 (495) 662-8247 and 8 (495) 644-4056.

A number of incoming flights have been cancelled.

Most of the casualties have been rushed to hospitals.

Investigators at the scene estimate the blast at 10 kilos TNT and believe it was the work of terrorists planting a bomb in a bag or detonating an explosive vest.

Authorities have tightened security around all key installations in the Russian capital. President Medvedev has urgently discussed the situation with Prosecutor General Yuri Chaika, head of the Investigation Committee Alexander Bastrykin and Transport Minister Igor Levitin.

The Kremlin says the President’s trip to the economic forum in Davos has had to be postponed.
