Libya:30 rebels killed in Misurata shelling
Laaska News June 11,2011
More than 30 Libyan rebels were killed and over 110 others were wounded as a result of Friday’s shelling by the government troops of the city Misurata, in the northwest of Libya.
The city is the opposition’s main stronghold and the biggest seaport in the west of Libya. The troops that are loyal to Muammar Gaddafi are closing in on Misurata from the south, east and west, but not form the north, where the seaport is located and used to receive cargoes from the opposition-controlled eastern part of Libya.
Meanwhile the Norwegian Defence Ministry said it was cutting down on the scale of its involvement in the NATO Libya operation. Norway reduced the number of its combat planes for Libya attacks from six to four. Oslo will have altogether pulled out of the operation by August.
