President of Mali Amadou Toumani Toure has spoken out in favor of an end to NATO bombings of Tripoli. “Like the African Union, we wish for the bombardments to stop and the opening of political talks to find a way out of the crisis,” he told a press conference in the capital city of Bamako.

Mr. Toure is a member of the high-level AU negotiating group entrusted with mediation in Libya’s civil conflict. According to him, favorable conditions are needed for a domestic policy discussion in that North African country.
