SANAA, June 13 (Xinhua) — Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh, receiving treatment in Riyadh for wounds from an attack on his Sanaa palace, will address his people ‘very soon’, the Defense Ministry’s website said on Monday.

The ministry cited Health Minister Abdul Karim Rasei, who visited Saleh on Saturday, as saying that the president would ” very soon speak directly through the media to the Yemeni people to brief them about the health condition of him and all injured.”

The minister’s remarks came to deny reports that the embattled president was in bad condition.

Saleh, 69, was wounded in an apparent assassination attack on his palace 10 days ago. Later, he flew to a military hospital in the Saudi capital to remove a shrapnel near his heart and undergo cosmetic surgeries for burns on his body.

An official of Saleh’s office told Xinhua that Saleh would deliver the speech within five or six days from Sanaa.
