Evgeny Satanovsky, President of the Institute of the Middle East:

Libya is not Yugoslavia, it is not Serbia, and so the game which was successful in the case of Miloshevich would be absolutely unsuccessful in the Arab world.

We saw the same decision a few years ago about Omar al-Bashir, president of Sudan, was ignored by the whole Africa and the whole Middle East. That is not trouble for Gaddafi, that is the trouble for the international system of political decisions.

The political crisis, the military crisis which was provoked by the League of Arab States, realized by Nicolas Sarkozy and the North Atlantic Alliance, has no decision, positive for the Western world. The problem is in a corner.

Russia more or less successfully discussed with Benghazi leaders and with Muammar Gaddafi peaceful way out of the crisis, but the decision, which the international community has, pulls the problem back into the corner. There is no other way now rather than the war till the death of Gaddafi, or maybe victory of Gaddafi – who knows.
