In the future, there will be no place in Libya for Muammar Gaddafi, said Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. Answering questions in the Washington studio of the “Voice of Russia”, he categorically denied reports on Russia’s alleged support for the regime of Gaddafi spread in the West.

When Gaddafi ordered the bombing of civilians, Russia was the first to condemn his actions and supported the UN Security Council resolution calling for the immediate cessation of hostilities and prohibiting all transfers of arms to Libya.

Russia also supported the project by the League of Arab States to close the airspace over Libya.

Unfortunately, Lavrov said, the NATO countries exceeded the limits of military power in Libya.

NATO aircraft have struck not only military targets, but also civilian settlements.

Lavrov said the negotiations between the authorities of Tripoli and the rebels, who are in Benghazi, show positive momentum.
