After fixing water contamination problems, engineers at Fukushima are making progress towards cooling the damaged reactors at the crippled nuclear power plant.

Local mayors, meantime, are seeking clarifications about when their communities are going to be allowed to return to their homes inside the 30-kilometre exclusion zone around the Fukushima station. Some 80 thousand people had to be moved out in the wake of the tsunami on March 11th .
