The military commander of the Libyan rebels, General Abdel Fattah Younes, has been killed by pro-Gaddafi forces, the BBC reports, citing the opposition National Transitional Council.

NTC said General Younes had been summoned for questioning about military operations, but never made it to the meeting.

Reports said the General was suspected of ties to pro-Gaddafi forces.

General Younes was a former Libyan interior minister who defected to the rebel side in February.
