Oslo saw the first funeral of the killed in the Oslo and Utøya attacks, where 77 people died, while police had the second questioning of their perpetrator Anders Behring Breivik who said that he had planned to attack the royal palace and the Labour Party’s headquarters in central Oslo. Police want to know whether Breivik had accomplices and are collecting all data about his moves and actions in the run-up to the attacks.
After September 11 Western special services first think of Islamists after every attack but these ones were carried out by a European and a Christian that reveals Europe’s vulnerability when it faces domestic terrorism.
According to the Europol, the European Union’s criminal intelligence agency, 1750 out of 2139 terrorist attacks were carried out by European separatists in Spain, Corsica and Northern Ireland in the period from 2006 to 2010 while Islamists conducted only 9. Strict control after September 11 helped to prevent all other attempts so insurgents compensate for this masterminding large-scale attacks with a lot of victims. Police are taught to react to any minor oddity in a Muslim’s behavior while Breivik remained unwatched for years purchasing chemicals and weapons, actively posting to far-right forums even though Interpol took interest in him already in March.
The shooter is a well-educated, handsome European who looked after himself doing sports and plastics surgeries. However, inside he appeared to be a pure Nazi wanting to save Europeans by terror, though he was not against Jews and urged Europe to unite with Russia, India and Serbia in his manifesto. The two domestic attacks were to draw attention to the document which would one in any case, political analyst Leonid Polyakov told the VoR
“Ideas of his manifesto 2083 summarize reflections by many Europeans about African and Asian migrants and increasing presence of Islam in Europe at the background of declining European population.”
Even despite dozens of victims, Breivik may spend maximum of 30 years in prison to be the first in Norway charged with crime against humanity. Norwegian prison system is one of the world’s most comfortable with three meals a day and a gym. This makes his example desirable for other maniacs who may want to write memoirs in a comfy cell to earn their retirement. Breivik also wants a laptop with access to Wikileaks, sweets and special menu. He even demanded antique wine and two posh call girls before the hearing.
Breivik may also spend his life in a lunatic asylum if he is found insane but psychologists are sure that he’s a fanatic not a nut which is proven by his coolness during the shooting rampage. He also thoroughly thought his attack out and immediately surrendered to police. His assessment of the attacks as “gruesome but necessary” also adds to his sanity.
The killer has claimed to have been working with far-right terrorists in Europe, whom he contacted an hour before the Oslo blast but they deny this. European political analysts call him mad and assure that no similar tragedies will follow. Still, some far-right politicians support Breivik saying that they don’t approve of terrorism but Islamization and Marxism should be combated. Some were even admiring Breivik’s ideas, namely Jacques Coutela from France’s National Front and Mario Borghezio from Italy’s Northern League who have already been expelled.
The only issue of accord is that the problem of unassimilated migrants should be solved. May be July 22, 2011 was the end of multiculturalism already pronounced by the leaders of the UK, Germany and France, Leonid Polyakov says
“Not only West German conservatives say that multiculturalism is dead. Norway’s PM told reporters that Norway is not a multicultural but a joint country. So even leftists understand that this idea has discredited itself.”
Europe will hardly see a 60-year religious war pledged by Breivik as it needs foreign labor. It tries to integrate migrants banning hijabs, introducing entry quotas and language exams. Some believe that the Swiss system of national and religious cantons may be ideal both for natives and newcomers but this doesn’t make the issue of multiculturalism resolved.
