Libya Crisis:Too many weapons in Libya – UN

The large number of weapons in the hands of the population of Libya is a serious problem, according to Ian Martin, a special adviser to the UN Secretary General, who is in Tripoli. He recommended the country’s new authorities quickly resolve this situation.
“The proliferation of weapons of great concern given the current situation” – said Martin.
In his statement he urged the new government of Libya to resolve the situation and recommended the establishment of a unified structure for the security forces.
The Libyan opposition’s Transitional National Council which was formed in February has been recognized by more than 60 countries, including Russia, as the only legitimate authority in the country.
The fate of Muammar Gaddafi is still not known.
Part of his family has fled to Algeria.
