Government of Niger has refused to hand Col Gaddafi’s son Saadi over to the National Transitional Council of Libya.

Niger’s top officials say they are bound by their international obligations not to extradite Saadi to his home country where he is likely to be tried unfairly and face a sure death penalty.

Niger is ready to bring Saadi to justice if the legal procedures are carried out by international law bodies boasting extensive jurisdiction concerning similar cases to Saadi’s.

Saadi Gaddafi fled Libya on Sunday. Niger authorities haven’t arrested him but rather put him under surveillance.
