Laaska News  Sept. 18,2011
Tropical storm Roke, currently located off Okinawa Prefecture, is moving slowly at 10 kilometer per hour.

The Meteorological Agency says the storm has largely stalled because 3 high-pressure systems in the east, west and north are blocking its path.

Weather officials say the storm is likely to remain stationary near Okinawa for the next 3 days.

The storm had an atmospheric pressure of 985 hectopascals as of 6 PM on Saturday, with winds of 82 kilometers per hour or more near its center. The winds are expected to increase up to 90 kilometers per hour as the water temperature around Okinawa is high.

Weather officials say it will begin to move northeast by the middle of next week, once the high-pressure systems in the north and east begin to weaken.
