Japan:Typhoon Roke moves off northern Japan

Typhoon Roke has passed over to the sea off northern Japan after making landfall on the Pacific coast in the central part of the country.


The Meteorological Agency says that as of 8 AM on Thursday the typhoon is moving north-northeast over the sea 70 kilometers off Nemuro city, Hokkaido, at 65 kilometers per hour.

Some areas along the Pacific coast of the region were engulfed in the storm at the time.

The typhoon was also bringing rain to eastern Hokkaido.
Stormy weather is expected to continue in waters along the Pacific coast.

Advisories have been issued for the area as high waves may cause flooding.
The typhoon left 6 people dead and 6 others missing throughout Japan.
