Libya’s opposition has continued its battle for the town of Sirte, one of the last remaining strongholds of Col Gaddafi’s supporters. Having suffered extensive losses in dead and wounded troops of the National Transitional Council now

control a quarter of the town’s territory.

Nato fighter jets have been providing air support of the operation. Heavy fighting has been on in the town streets. Gaddafi’s loyalists are commanded by the Colonel’s son Mutasim who has been wounded and is now in hospital.
