Forces of the Libyan Transitional National Council have failed to take control of Gaddafi’s remaining strongholds over the past two and a half weeks.

Despite weeklong blockades and massive air strikes, Gaddafi loyalists still maintain control of several towns, including Bani Walid and Gaddafi’s hometown of Sirte. Heavy fighting is reported in Ragdalin, 130 kilometers southwest of Tripoli.

Meanwhile, Libya’s fugitive leader has urged Libyans to take to the streets to protest against the country’s new authorities.

In his message aired by Arrai TV, Gaddafi said that the TNC, which had come to power with the support of NATO, was illegitimate.
