The trial of Egypt’s ousted President Hosni Mubarak has been postponed to December 28 pending a decision on replacing the judge against whom Mubarak’s lawyers filed a complaint.

The issue will be considered in an urgent hearing in this respect on December 26.

The 83-year old Mubarak is charged with a violent crackdown on the opposition during the January unrest and with corruption. Egypt’s revolution killed some 850 people and injured thousands.

The ex-President may be sentenced to death if he is found guilty.
