The new Egyptian government formed by Kamal al-Ganzuri was sworn in on Wednesday before the head of the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces of Egypt Field Marshal Hussein Tantawi.

The government consists of 16 new ministers and 12 ministers from the government of the previous Premier Essam Sharaf.

On Wednesday, a special decree of the army commanders conferred presidential authority on 78-year-old al-Ganzuri, with the exception of controlling the army and judicial bodies.

The cabinet was delegated more freedom of action compared with the previous government.
