Iran has threatened to block the Strait of Hormuz oil route in the event the West bans the former’s oil exports.

Vice President Mohammad Reza Rahimi warned that “not a drop of oil will pass through the Strait of Hormuz,” BBC reports.

The EU countries want to stop buying Iranian oil in a bid to make the country drop its nuclear program.

One third of the world’s oil is transited through the Strait of Hormuz which links the Persian Gulf and the Indian Ocean
