As a result of tectonic activity along the western coast of Yemen a new island has been formed reported NASA on Friday.

Satellite pictures show that where before there was only a smooth surface of water there has now been formed a distinctly noticeable Island stated the space agency.

The first manifestation of volcanic activity was observed in the ocean by fishermen.

NASA satellites then recorded the appearance of the island.

The eruption of underwater volcanoes periodically create new islands but many of them are unable to resist the winds and the waves of the sea and they eventually just disappear.
