Monday, January 2, 2012

The trial of Egypt`s ex-president Hosni Mubarak has resumed in Cairo.

The 83-year-old Mubarak was flown to the court on a helicopter from the International medical center where he has been staying due to poor health.

Mubarak and other defendants, including his sons and former interior ministry chiefs, are accused of ordering the killing of protesters during the January 25th, 2011, uprising, which claimed the lives of 850 people and left thousands more injured.

The trial began on August 3 but was shortly postponed for more than 3 months.

If convicted, the former Egyptian leader may face the death penalty.
