Britain to send Daring destroyer to Persian Gulf

Sunday, January 8, 2012

Britain is sending another warship to the Persian Gulf as tension keeps rising over Iran’s threats to block the Strait of Hormouz, the world’s main oil transport channel.

The one-million-pound Daring destroyer equipped with a new-generation radar will leave Portsmouth on January 11.

There are 9 British warships in the Gulf at the moment.

Iran conducted large-scale naval exercises in Hormouz from December 24 to January 2, during which it tested long-range cruise missiles.
