Iranian ship captured by pirates

An Iranian vessel designed to transport petrochemical products was captured by pirates in the Gulf of Aden according to reports by the Mehr news agency on Tuesday.

According to reports the ship was headed to one of the North African countries carrying 30,000 tons of caustic soda produced by the Iranian chemical plant Arvand.

Last week the naval forces of the U.S. freed an Iranian fishing boats that the pirates had been holding over 40 days.

According to the Pentagon while 13 crew members were rescued by the Iranians Tehran welcomed the actions of the U.S. Navy, qualifying them as humane and positive.
