The White House is not seeking regime change in Iran, according to Washington, and by strengthening sanctions and isolation, U.S. policy is aimed at changing the behavior of the Islamic Republic

According to the U.S. administration, President Barack Obama is open to talks with the Iranian authorities, but believes that they should be the ones who take the first step to normalize relations.

The current U.S. goal is to significantly reduce or even freeze the purchase of Iranian oil to other countries because the proceeds from its sale bring Tehran about $100 billion a year.
