Foreign intervention in Syria dangerous – Tunisian president

Monday, January 16, 2012

Any foreign intervention in Syria will result in an outburst in the entire Middle East, Tunisian President Moncef Marzouki said in his interview for the Algerian newspaper El Khabar.

“Such an intervention will result in a war which will spread all over the region and involve all the leading forces, such as Turkey, Israel, Iran and Hezbollah,” the Tunisian president stressed.

Marzouki also expressed concern about the situation in Syria sliding into a religious confrontation. He said that because of disagreements and clashes of interests of various religious groups the revolution may suffer a fiasco which may cause  dramatic developments”.
