The United States should demonstrate readiness for nuclear talks with Iran without preconditions, Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi announced on Thursday.

Earlier, Tehran said it was ready to resume consultations with a group of six world powers (five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany) but warned that they mustn’t perceive this dialogue as a means of achieving their goals.

Speaking about the Strait of Hormuz, Mr. Salehi stressed that Iran had never ever sought to block that strategic oil export artery. He believes that the Hormuz issue has been overdramatized.
