The number of injured in clashes which continue outside the Interior Ministry in Cairo, Egypt, has exceeded 1,000.

Nearly 1,200 have appealed to doctors for medical assistance with 400 of them being sent to the hospital.

Most of those not sent to the hospital are suffering from gas poisoning and received first aid on site.

Egyptian radicals urged supporters to stop the attacks and return to Tahrir Square in an appeal heard immediately after the publication of statements by the Supreme Council of the armed forces regarding the need for the cooperation of all segments of the population.

Interior Minister Mohamed Ibrahim said that if all that is needed to end the violence is his resignation he is ready to leave immediately.
