ANKARA, Feb. 12 (Xinhua) — A cargo ship with the flag of African nation Comoros was pulled to the Turkish Eregli port Sunday after it asked for help due to water leakage, Turkish semi- official Anatolia news agency reported.

“We sent two ships to the area after the captain called for help, and the cargo ship was pulled to Eregli port by a tug boat,” Eregli Vice Governor Ibrahim Cay was quoted as saying.

The crew members were in stable condition, Cay said, adding that the cargo ship would head for Bulgaria after it was repaired.

The cargo ship started to leak water from its engine room earlier Sunday 6 miles off Eregli town of Turkey’s northern province Zonguldak, Zonguldak Governor Erol Ayyildiz was quoted as saying earlier.

The cargo ship was en route to Bulgaria after it unloaded scrap oil at Erdemir Iron and Steel Enterprises in Turkey, according to the report.
