Syria – bodies of 2 reporters handed to ICRC

Syrian authorities on Friday handed over the bodies of two Western journalists killed in Homs to the International Committee of the Red Cross.

The bodies of American Marie Colvin and Frenchman Remi Ochlik were transferred by ambulance from Homs to Damascus.

The Syrian Foreign Ministry has officially expressed condolences over the death of Colvin. “In a natural humanistic response, the government expresses its sincere condolences,” – says a statement of the ministry.

The Paris prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation into the death of Ochlik. 56-year-old Colvin, who worked for British newspaper The Sunday Times, and 28-year-old photographer Ochlik died Feb. 22 in the besieged Syrian city of Homs.
