Kuwait and Bahrain shut down embassies in Damascus

Friday, March 16, 2012

Kuwait and Bahrain announced Thursday they were closing their embassies in Syria. Employees of both countries’ diplomatic missions are being withdrawn in connection with the troubled situation in the Arab country.

Earlier, the UK, USA, Canada, Italy, France, Spain and Saudi Arabia similarly closed their embassies in Syria, which has been rife with anti-government protests for almost a year.
