Cairo – Arab League calls for Syria help

Saturday, March 17, 2012

The Arab League is pinning its Syria hopes on the mission of international Syria envoy Kofi Annan.

Speaking in Cairo Saturday, AL Secretary General Nabil al-Araby also urged the family of nations to rush emergency help to Syria, which he said should include plentiful medical supplies.

Mr al-Araby also quoted senior Syrian opposition figures as rejecting any talks with President Assad and saying they need Western help in the form of military intervention. Many reportedly said they wanted their country to become another Libya.
