Ex Mali leader resigns

The deposed leader of Mali, Amadou Toumani Toure, has handed in his resignation. The Foreign Minister of Burkina Faso, Djibril Bassole, reported on the receipt of the document on Sunday.

The official resignation of Toure is necessary for the transfer of power from the military junta of Mali, which staged a coup, to the interim civilian president who will be the chairman of the National Assembly Traore Dionkunda who will be responsible for the task of organizing elections in Mali in 40 days.
