The UN Security Council has unanimously adopted a chairman’s statement condemning North Korea’s de facto ballistic missile launch.

The council held a meeting on Monday morning following the country’s action.

The North claims it launched a rocket carrying a satellite.

The statement says the Security Council condemns North Korea for its serious violation of UN resolutions.

It also refers to the possibility of the council taking further action if the North conducts launches more missiles or conducts nuclear experiments in the future.

UN Council “strongly condemns” N.Korea rocket launch

The U.N. Security Council strongly condemned on Monday North Korea’s recent failed rocket launch as a violation of council resolutions and warned it would take further action in the event of a new missile launch or nuclear test.

North Korea admitted its long-range rocket failed to deliver a satellite into orbit on Friday while U.S. and South Korean officials said it crashed into the sea a few minutes after launch.
