Syria’s opposition relies on Russia

Syria’s opposition expects Russia to influence Bashar Assad and make him fully stick to Kofi Annan’s peace strategy, one of the leaders of the National Coordination Committee Hassan Abdel Azim told reporters on Monday.
On April 16, Syria’s opposition met with Russia’s Middle East envoy Mikhail Bogdanov in Moscow.
Abdel Azim said that the meeting was very productive and the parties discussed means to stop violence in Syria.
Russia plays a key part in the resolution of the conflict and its activity provides for peace in Syria, added Abdel Azim.
The official also said that the talks have shown that Moscow and the opposition share opinions on the majority of issues discussed.

Syria’s govt reports ceasefire violations
Syria’s government has reported over 60 violations of the April 12 ceasefire, Syria’s presidential spokesman stated on Monday.
According to the official, the number of terrorist attacks on policemen, troops, and civilians increased after the government stopped all action in line with Kofi Anna’s ceasefire plan.
The official said that the government troops have to respond to the violence.
The government services also found three illegal explosive-making labs and weapons warehouses in the provinces of Hama and Daraa.
